Don’t be surprised in thinking this is a completely non-Fate related entry because it sure isn’t. I only post the really, really good things in life that I thoroughly and highly enjoy and that are worth mentioning 1100%. I’ll get to the Fate matter in just a few moments after I post my mini review of the timeless classic of what is deemed Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War (The War of the Lions for the PlayStation Portable), my second favorite only next to Final Fantasy IX.
Originally released on the PlayStation back in 1997 and developed by the original Square Soft, it’s a game that truly delivers in terms of its intriguing plot; filled with a plethora of dynamic and enriched in background story characters; the war-ridden plains and terrains to various ways of customizing your party members and different approaches to battling. I’ve played the original PSX version about 3 times or so, my data kept getting erased due to the inefficiency of those mega memory cards. (the big green ones)
Now for the PSP version – originally released in the fall on 2007 to North America, I was hyped when I heard of this but I became only a lil’ bit disappointed when I realized it’s essentially the same game except for removing the previous title’s glitches and a re-arrangement of ‘The Lion War’ to ‘The War of the Lions.’ I am now on my 6th replay on this esteemed classic. This is all a result of my data being corrupted every single time or the original disk can’t be read. Even after all these years and replays, I still can’t get tired of Ramza and his overall character. The fact that he is brought into existence into a renowned family and possesses an insane amount of charisma attracts a lot of appeal. He is also a momentous character that drives the plot all the way through. He is undoubtedly my favorite protagonist out of the other FF titles. The sound track was memorable and the battles were brought out beautifully with life that altogether is complemented with a great pace.
Now on a side note…: I’m really mortified that I won’t be able to get the Fate merchandise that I ordered in time before my university term starts up. I’ll definitely cry if that happens.
*cough*X-COM’s better*cough*
Seriously though,it’s a pretty decent game. Unfortunately at this rate I’m probably going to finish it in around 2 years. (You can blame PC gaming for that.)
You need to pick up the pace.
